this is gonna be an entry on FHA2006(Food Hotel Asia Fair 2006) the words in brackets are for those who dont know what it is. haha. its like the biggest fair in the industry for hoteliers and all to come and view the different equipments and products larx. super big. from hall1 to hall6 including the foyer please at expo. so you can imagine how grand this affair is. am very honored to be able to be part of this fair, even though we're not paid, but i have to say, i gain a lot just by seeing it. and the entrance fee is 80bucks ladies and gentlemen. so i did not really lose out in any way.
its definitely worth the experience, because i'm exposed to something called events management. this is very much part of the events side. and i'm exposed to the chefs. haha. yeah. am involved in helping out for the first ever Asian Pastry Cup. so yup. its really fun. must really thank my friends for giving me the honor of carrying the Singapore flag, because i wanted to. haha. 7 countries competing to win that 3places for the World Pastry Cup in Lyon, France next year and 1 for the crown of Champion for the first ever Asian Pastry Cup. the components of the competition would be, a plated dessert, a chocolate cake. a sugar piece as well as a chocolate piece. they start work officially at 7am, and by 12noon, the plated dessert must be done, 1pm the chocolate cake, and finally at 3pm, the sugar and chocolate piece. its a hard day work. no joke. and the intense was really there. well, we were very much just some extras helping around when needed. we helped serve the desserts to the judges and clearing it, washing the dishes and just help carry stuffs around. not a very important role, but its the least we can do to help i supposed. before i continue, some pictures of the sugar and chocolate piece.
Done by Malaysia team. the plate nearest to the left is the plated dessert. (: the sugar piece by Malaysia. the bottom is the chocolate cake.(: Done by Indonesia team. their chocolate piece fell apart. was really a heartbreaking scene. they kindda broke down. but kudos to them for the work. it's actually a very nice piece. but sigh. no comments. by the way, the flower pot is their sugar piece. and on top of it is the chocolate cake. done by Macau. their sugar piece is like super duper nice larx. they got the sugar piece award. i think they deserve it. (: beside it is their chocolate piece. there's 4 here. 2 done by singapore and 2 done by australia. ok. the bottom left one is a sugar piece done by Singapore. it could have been nicer, but some accident happened in the kitchen. a little heart breaking as well. but i still think its nice. the bottom right one is a sugar piece done by the Aussie team. its a dragon. rather impressive i must say. top left is a chocolate piece done by the Aussie team. and lastly the top right is a chocolate piece done by the Singapore team. a closer look to the dragon piece by the Aussie team. the chocolate piece done by the Singapore team. the chocolate piece done by the Aussie team. sugar piece by Singapore.
i apologise for some of the blurry effects. it wasnt intentional to be artistic. but because i could only take out my camera and snap these pictures when i'm done with all the clearing up and when i have to go home. but its definitely nice larx. no doubt about it right. some people just have the talent to do such art piece. goodness me. anyway, the competition was held over a span of 2days. on Wednesday 4countries compete and Thursday the remaining 3. and the winner, i'm proud to say, is from Singapore. was so happy. (:(: kindda inspired to be a chef actually. but i still have to think about it and pray about it.
yup. very fun time talking to the chefs, even the president jury from France. though he only speak french and i dont understand and know how to, i think he's so funny. he got so many nicknames, but i really believe he's a nice guy. i'll miss witnessing his funny actions. of course the Singapore Pastry Alliances chefs. got handsome guys also. haha. like one when he was carrying the cake to show the judges and the audience, auntie commented he's handsome when we were all talking about the cake. haha. i will miss washing the dishes in the toilet and being scolded by outsiders that we should know hygience especially since we're from hospital. haha. its hospitality, not hospital. haha. anyway, did i even talk about the host? haha, she's pretty larx, but dont think she's really tactful in some sense, but still, nice voice and tone and pretty face. haha. oh well, if i have a chance, i would really want to witness the world pastry cup. (:
in the mean time, Singapore, woohoo!! supporting you all the way.
